August 3rd was the final day of AAPM 2017, the annual meeting and exhibition that connects medical physicists with the products and research that are advancing the industry. A plethora of industry leaders and innovators, including Aktina, displayed new products on the show floor and new ideas for the AAPM industry at talks and demos during the event.
Aktina debuted their collaboration with PhillipsMedical Systems and Elekta Instruments at AAPM
2017, highlighting new SRS Cone Adapters that now function with Elekta’s LINAC Radiotherapy system and Philips Pinnacle³ Treatment Planning System. These new partnerships allow for a quicker workflow and more seamless integration between cone and LINAC, making SRS safer and more user friendly. Cone-based SRS is a growing trend in radiation technology and was a popular part of the Aktina booth. Another trending topic at the event was recent innovations in SBRT technology, with a variety of solutions presented.
The flow of ideas at AAPM 2017 was an ideal setting for Aktina to continue to improve and develop upcoming projects in conversation with experts and doctors. The useful and constructive feedback from trade show attendees continues to trigger innovation in the industry across a wide range of real-world challenges. With several new products and innovations on the horizon, the developments on display at AAPM 2017 are already helping Aktina develop new solutions for the benefit of medical physicists and patients.
With the knowledge and industry connectivity developed at AAPM 2017, Aktina is now looking forward to ASTRO in San Diego to further build on these ideas and continue pushing forward on new solutions for radiology and medical physics.
